About me

I'm a musician, photographer, writer and motorcycle enthusiast. I'm a recently retired electrical engineer. I've worked way too many hours for the last few years, so I took early retirement while I still have the health, energy and resources to start living life my way. I live alone in an upscale condo just off north 360. I'm politically liberal, but have a strong streak of common sense. I'm kind, generous, smart, experienced and open minded. I prefer the company of younger people as so many of my peers have ossified, both in mind and body.

Too many to list here, but I'll try:
I like most movies from action to foreign. I like science-fiction movies and novels, and fantasy. I like suspense and mystery novels. Almost anything by Dean Koontz, Michael Connelly, Jim Butcher. I also like main stream writers, some of me all time favorites are Primo Levi, Nabokov, Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut. I was recently blown away by the movie, "The Brothers Bloom". I loved the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" books and movies. My favorite TV shows include, "Warehouse 13", "Eureka", "True Blood", "Nurse Jackie", "The Walking Dead", "Sanctuary", "Haven", you get the idea.

Lust, Caution review

An amazing piece of cinema from director Ang Lee, absolutely beautiful cinematography. How the crew managed to find enough of old Shanghai to film in is a mystery to me, but they created an amazingly convincing portrayal of the period. Add the sets and locations to the beautiful photography, the incredible "mise en scene", and the wonderful performances, and you end of with a beautiful and affecting film. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you love cinema, then you have to see this film.
